Library Cards

 

A world of information and entertainment is available with your Amityville Pubic Library card!

 

  • Library cards are free of charge to residents,  infants and older, and non-resident tax payers of the Amityville School District.

  • Two forms of identification including name and address must be shown to be issued a library card.  A Post Office box is not acceptable proof of residence.
  • Acceptable forms of proof of residence include:  New York State Driver’s License, New York State non-drive ID, automobile registration, social services identification, tax receipt, rent receipt, imprinted checkbook, paycheck, identification issued by a New York State or County Agency.

  • Acceptable forms of proof of residence for Young Adults (grade 7 through 17 years of age), in addition to those listed above, may include a bus pass, report card, school schedule or letter from school.  Alternate proof of residence includes the parent’s or guardian’s up-to-date library card plus one item which includes the young adult’s name.
  • To obtain a Library Card for Children (infants through 6th grade), any form of identification as listed above is acceptable OR the parent or guardian may show his/her up-to-date library card.
  • Library cards are issued to teachers in the Amityville UFSD, students in elementary or secondary schools in the district, business owners or administrator or facilitator in a health care or non-profit agency located in the district.  Please inquire at the Circulation Desk for additional information.

Loan Periods and Daily Fine Rates

 
The standard loan period is 28 days with a 5 cents per day late charge.
 
The following exceptions apply:
 
New and Popular Fiction $0.10
7 days loan except 14 days for books 500 pages or more.  
   
New and Popular Non-Fiction $0.10
