Adult Programs

  • Register for all programs with a fee by coming to the Circulation Desk with cash, check or money order. Registration is required. 

  • Masks are strongly recommended at all in-person programs and unless otherwise noted, there will be a 25 person limit at all in-person programs.

  • Registration for all in-person adult programs will begin on Tuesday, October 25th for all Amityville Public Library cardholders and Tuesday, November 1st for all non-Amityville Public Library cardholders.

Qigong (pronounced chi kung) is an ancient Chinese form of exercise that is similar to tai chi. You will be introduced to the 18 Lohan Hands — a fluid, dance-like moving meditation handed down from the Shaolin Temple. Qigong helps reduce stress and anxiety, increases strength and flexibility and lifts your spirit!  Please have a mat and water with you.

Tuning Fork Therapy

Tuning forks are a non-invasive modality used to balance the nervous system and create an inner harmony. What CAN be shred: all office paper (staples, small and large clips do not need to be removed) and CDs are permitted as long as the plastic case or sleeve is removed. What CAN NOT be shred: newspapers, magazines, black carbon sheets, plastic, and cardboard.

 No registration needed. Just come on by and the shredding van from A Shred Away, Inc will be in the village parking lot at the Amityville Public Library.

Western Suffolk BOCES offers Home Study Programs for High School Equivalency preparation and English Language skills. You must be 21 or older to enter the program. A  minimum score is required for the English Skills program. Benefits of the program include: work at your own pace,  pick up work at convenient locations including libraries, you can use passed Regents exams and passed TASC exam subtests towards GED subtests. It’s safe, it’s convenient and it is NO COST to qualifying students.

Registration: You must attend the program at one of the dates/times to register and receive an assessment.
